Biomass Hot Air Furnace For Rubber Drying — Malaysia
Biomass Hot Air Furnace for Rubber Drying in Malaysia
Meibao completed a high-cleanliness direct-fired biomass hot air furnace project for rubber drying in Malaysia.
The new furnace replaced the customer’s original natural gas hot air furnace. It uses locally available biomass fuels, including palm kernel shells and wood-based materials, to produce 550–700°C clean process hot air for continuous rubber drying.
The completed upgrade reduced dependence on natural gas, lowered fuel costs and supported the continuous operation of the rubber drying line.

Project Background
The original rubber drying system used a natural gas hot air furnace. Fuel cost and energy-source availability were important considerations for the customer’s continuous production.
Meibao replaced the original heating unit with a high-cleanliness direct-fired biomass hot air furnace. The new system uses biomass resources that are readily available in Southeast Asia, such as palm kernel shells, wood chips and branches.
The project retained the customer’s rubber drying process while upgrading the fuel-feeding, combustion, purification, hot-air circulation and control systems.

Project Overview
Biomass is transferred through the fuel-feeding system to the combustion unit. The combustion process generates high-temperature gas, which enters the high-temperature purification chamber.
Dust carried by the combustion gas is removed and settled inside the purification section. The resulting clean hot air is controlled within a temperature range of 550–700°C.
Circulation fans deliver the hot air to the rubber drying oven and distribute it through the drying chambers. The hot-air circulation system supports continuous and controlled rubber drying.

Process Description
1. Biomass Fuel Preparation
Palm kernel shells, wood chips, wood blocks, branches and other compatible biomass fuels are organized through the fuel-storage and feeding system.
The fuel-feeding system maintains the required biomass supply for continuous furnace operation.
2. Fuel Feeding
Biomass is transferred from the fuel hopper to the combustion unit by the conveyor and feeding mechanism.
The fuel-feeding rate is coordinated with the required hot-air temperature and heat demand of the rubber drying line.
3. Biomass Combustion
The biomass burns inside the combustion unit and generates high-temperature gas.
The combustion-air system and grate operation are coordinated with the fuel-feeding system.
4. High-Temperature Purification
The combustion gas enters the high-temperature purification chamber.
Dust carried by the gas is separated and settled inside the purification section before the hot air enters the rubber drying system.
5. Clean Hot-Air Generation
After high-temperature purification, the system produces 550–700°C process hot air.
The hot-air temperature is regulated according to the requirements of the rubber drying process.
6. Hot-Air Circulation
Circulation fans transfer the clean hot air to the rubber drying oven.
The airflow is distributed through the hot-air chambers to support continuous drying across the rubber material.
7. Rubber Drying
The controlled hot air removes moisture from the rubber during the drying cycle.
The hot-air distribution arrangement reduces surface over-drying and limits rubber buildup around the openings of the drying trolleys.
8. Automatic Control
The control system coordinates biomass feeding, combustion, purification, hot-air temperature, circulation fans and exhaust-air operation.
The operating interface provides centralized monitoring of the main furnace and drying-system conditions.

Main Technical Characteristics
Use of Locally Available Biomass
The furnace uses palm kernel shells and wood-based biomass available in the regional market, reducing the project’s dependence on natural gas.
High-Temperature Purification
The combustion gas passes through the high-temperature purification chamber before entering the rubber drying oven.
Direct-Fired Heat Utilization
The purified hot air directly enters the rubber drying system without passing through an intermediate heat exchanger.
The direct-fired arrangement improves heat utilization compared with an indirect heat-exchange hot air furnace.
Controlled Rubber Drying
Hot-air temperature and circulation are coordinated with the rubber drying cycle to reduce surface over-drying and uneven moisture removal.
Continuous Air Circulation
Multiple circulation fans distribute hot air through the drying oven and support continuous production.
Centralized Control
Fuel feeding, combustion, purification, temperature and airflow are integrated into one control system.
